Included in the price are all entrance fees, beverage and snacks.

Sinagua Ruins Tour

sinagua ruins

Sin (without) Auga (water) 900 A.D. marks the time when Sinauga people inhabited the Verde Valley. They built their houses, called pueblos, into the cliffs. The Sinauga people had an understanding of astronomy and made jewelry, pottery, and baskets for trade with other groups of people including those in Central America, Mexico, and on the Pacific Coast. By 1,400 A.D. the Sinauga people had left the Verde Valley and the Yavapai Apache took up residence, establishing their tribes and families until outside settlers began exploring the area.

The Yavapai Apache still reside in the Verde Valley today. A visit to these ancient cliff dwellings and petroglyphs may inspire you, or stir an old memory of times long past. We take a leisurely drive out the dirt roads to these sites and enjoy a tour where we can learn and ask questions.

Hopi Private Tour

Our drive begins as we pass through beautiful Oak Creek Canyon with towering red rock formations and the beautiful Oak Creek flowing alongside the road.  The San Francisco Peaks come in to view as we approach Flagstaff.  The Peaks are sacred to both the Hopi and Navajo people.  We continue our drive and pass through the Navajo Nation. Once at Hopi you will see the oldest continuously inhabited village in this country, Old Oraibi located on the Third Mesa.

We visit the Cultural Center and Hopi Museum on Second Mesa where we can view excellent examples of Hopi crafts and photographs depicting the Hopi way of life in the early 20th Century.  We will enjoy a lunch here, where traditional Hopi food, including flavorful Blue Corn Fry bread is available.

On First Mesa we will have a Hopi guided tour of Walpi, a village that still adheres to the traditional way of life.  Handicrafts directly from Hopi Artisans are available for purchase and the artists will explain the symbolism of the handicrafts.

Our tour includes the services of a local Hopi guided village tour, Hopi Museum and Lunch, beverages and snacks for travel.  On the way home, we have the option of stopping at the Historic La Posada Hotel in Winslow for dinner (not included in tour price).

Please respect the wishes of the Hopi people – photography is not permitted on the reservation.
